Recycled toy, Antònia Ferrer.
DESCRIBE YOUR TOY.
They are for children who cover the age of 6 months to 2 years generally, because being a teddy is not a very specific age.
I have used different
materials. If you want to make those stuffed animals you need.
-Garn yarn.
-Carton.
-Scissors.
-Silicone.
-”Goma eva”.
-Buttons.
-Pencil.
-Compas.
First we have to take a
compass and paint the circle of the measure we want the head, and
then mark the size of the body. Normally the head size is 10 cm
radius and the body 8 cm. After, within each circle we have to mark a
small circle of 3.5 cm of radius. We have to cut two equals, two for
the head and two for the body. In addition, we will make a very
small circle to make the tail of the rabbit.
Once we have marked it, we
have to cut it. And we have to stay like this:
The second step is to wrap the yarn in a small carton, with the purpose that the rolled-up cardboard can pass through the circle.
Once this step is done, we will start winding the yarn around the cardboard, making the same process all the time, putting the cardboard wrapped with the thread inside the central hole, getting what we want.
As we can see, depending on the animal you choose, you can use regardless one color or another. In my case, as I wanted to do a chick and a rabbit I chose these colors, they are: yellow, brown and white.
When we're done wrapping
the thread, we will be as follows:
Then, with or without help, cut the thread by putting the scissors between the two cartoons and going by separating the ball into two parts.
Once cut, we have to get a piece of yarn between the cartoons and naked to the ball is compact.
When we have the balls
made we will put them together with silicone.
When we have them
together, we will have the shape of the animal we want. Then we will
create the face. The eyes and the nose of the rabbit we will make with
buttons. And we'll hook it with silicone. The ears we will make with
“goma-eva” or “papel de filtro”. The eyes of the chicken we
will do with buttons or “goma-eva”. and the beak with “goma-eva”.
Optionally we can make the chicken legs with “goma-eva”.
And with all this, we already have our animals made. IS READY!.
Children could do that activity with the help of an adult. They could cut the carton with “punxons”, Then they could roll the yarn into the cardboard. All that comes next like cutting the yarn and tying a knot would do the adults. Then the kids could help stick the balls and have to do the details and face.
The reasons why I chose
that toy are a couple. The first and the most meaningful to me is
because it reminds me of my childhood, the second is because I love a
teddy and it's a nice way to have your own, and the third reason, but
no less important, is because I remembered that last year we studied
an author who spoke of the attachment that the child has when he is
small. Then I thought that making that material could be used for
plush of attachment and later could serve as a teddy or to play
farms, or simply symbolic game.
That toy can help children
develop affective bond, have to be more creative, to have more
confidence, to be able to have an object of their own, to communicate
with the teddy, to have a responsibility and especially to represent,
to imagine, to solve problems, to live, helps them feel safe, but
especially to enjoy!
Knowing
how to recycle all waste, respect the environment and know what we
can do to preserve our nature are some of the great teachings that we
adults can pass on to our children.
Recycling
we contribute to our whole environment being much cleaner. In this
way, it will be possible to enjoy a city and a more pollution-free
planet. Among its main advantages is the conservation and saving of
energy, raw materials and natural resources, as well as the decrease
in the volume of waste to be eliminated. It saves energy and avoids
the pollution caused by the extraction and processing of virgin
materials, as well as the manufacture of products using virgin
materials.
